Wednesday Night Jazz

Live Django style Jazz every Wednesday night. Featuring guitarist Jesse Barksdale with guests violinist Drew Jurecka and/or accordionist Marcel Aucoin, Chris Bezant and Chris Banks on guitar and bass.

The Hot Jazz String Quartet has been an institution at the Victory Cafe every Wednesday night (October to end of May) since 2003. The band's style of string instrument Jazz takes a cue from Django Reinhardt the famous French Roma guitarist who in the 1930's and '40's created a distinctive style of music which blended in Roma or Gypsy music influences with Jazz. Violinist Drew Jurecka and guitarist Jesse Barksdale developed a close working relationship when they first started to work together in Jeff Healey's band the Jazz Wizards. The brilliant accordionist Marcel Aucion fills in for Jurecka when he is out touring with Jill Barber.
